Alison prepares for her Iceland
trek
Alison McNeil, a community nurse specialist at the Marie Curie hospice, is joining other fundraisers pulling on their boots for a once-in-a-lifetime charity trek across Iceland this summer.
Trek Iceland will see the team trek through a striking mix of volcanoes and mountains beginning in the Borgarfjördur region, visiting the craters of Grábrókargígar and trekking at the Hredavatn Lake before ending with a celebratory dinner in Reykjavík.
Alison is already wrapping up for the Iceland trek, which takes place between August 21 to 26. She said: "I am so excited about the trip and it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"Working for the charity and being based in the Glasgow Hospice, I know everyone is really looking forward to the new hospice but we need to raise the funds to make this happen.
"The trek will be a fantastic opportunity to raise money and I'm sure all our hard work will pay off."
Capital appeal manager for the Glasgow Big Build campaign Karen Milne said: "We are encouraging as many people as possible from the area and beyond to get involved.
"The new hospice in Glasgow will provide an enhanced environment for patient care and fundraising is crucial to meet our £16million Big Build target."
